November Week 4 Linds

Ponderize Scripture:
2 And so great were the blessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon raw meat in the wilderness, our women did give plenty of suck for their children, and were strong, yea, even like unto the men; and they began to bear their journeyings without murmurings.

 3 And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did provide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness. (1 Nephi 17:2-3)

11/23 Mon Be an Example and a Light (Thomas S. Monson)
Six attributes that are part of being an example of a believer (according to Paul):
1. word and conversation- being uplifting. don't be negative.
2. charity- seek out those who are lonely and lift them!
3. in Spirit- gratitude, kindness, forgiveness, goodwill
4. of faith- "Our faith in the Lord Jesuss Christ and in our Heavenly Father will influence all that we do." How is my faith manifest in my studies, work, friendships?
5. Purity- in body, mind, and spirit- THOUGHTS
"Opportunities to shine surround us each day."

That They Do Always Remember Him (Claudio R. M. Costa)
-The biggest feeling I get from this is that part of remembering Jesus Christ every day has to do with being personally acquainted with his life and ministry. This means knowing the stories of His birth and having personal experiences with Him. How do I get that? By seeking to understand and be acquainted with His life. All of the stories that Claudio Costa quotes are from the New Testament. This is an answer to my prayer/question about what I should focus on next.

Alma 53:2 basis for friendship (Moroni and Lehi): similarities, rejoice in each other's safety, beloved by each other. Do I seek to fulfill these needs for my friends? Do I surround myself with friends like this? 

Alma 53:4-6 Alma builds stronghold- what is my stronghold/strength? Use it and fortify myself against Satan's temptations.

Ether 12;27 Weakness brings us until Christ and the Atonement makes weak things become strong.

Alma 53:4-5 Moroni caused that their should be many layers of fortifications to Make the weakest part of the land become a stronghold (Ether 12:27). 

Alma 53:20 "valiant for courage and strength and activity" what does that mean? 

Alma 58:11 "Yea, and it came to pass that the Lord our God did visit us with assurances that he would deliver us; yea, insomuch that he did speak peace to our souls, and did grant unto us great faith, and did cause us that we should hope for our deliverance in him."-->assurances, peace, hope are answers almost stronger than other clearer answers. Valiance for courage leads to recognition of answers to prayers.

Sat 11/28 Why the Church (Todd D. Christofferson)
"His desire is that we continue 'from grace to grace, until [we receive] a fullness' of all He can give. That requires more than simply being nice or feeling spiritual. It requires faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism of water and of the Spirit, and enduring in faith to the end." -->living the doctrine and gospel of Jesus Christ is the way that Heavenly Father has allotted for us to gain access to His grace.
"We are prone to excuse and rationalize our faults, and sometimes we simply do not know where we should improve or how to do it. Without those who can reprove us 'betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost, we might lack the courage to change and more perfectly follow the Master." --> Do I go to church humbly wanting to know how I should change? This should be my attitude and I should be expect to be exposed to my own weakness! That is the whole point of going to church. Pray for that revelation & gain courage to enact what answers I get.
